Skiing & Snowboarding

Mt Ruapehu is home to New Zealand’s two largest Ski areas with 1800 hectares of serious room to move. We have a cosy fire to warm you after your adventures and a drying room for your damp gear.

Both Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas will provide you with more terrain, more choices and more pure freedom to ski, snowboard or play in the snow. Ride the Sky Waka to The Knoll Chalet café to enjoy a hot chocolate and stunning views across central North Island.

Whakapapa Ski Field, located on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu, is New Zealand’s largest, most developed ski area. There is a myriad of options that cater for beginners right through to advanced athletes out to challenge their limits. There are plenty of marked trails but the off piste skiing at Whakapapa is superb.

Happy Valley is renowned for its world-class beginner facilities for first time skiers and snowboarders on its gentle slopes.
